Welcome to the Wolwedans Desert Academy

'The Living Classroom'

Vocational Training in the heart of the NamibRand Nature Reserve is your perfect springboard to a career in the hospitality sector.  The academy , along with NICE (Namibia Institute of Culninary Education), is a vocational training provider governed and managed by the Wolwedans Foundation Trust. The Desert Academy and NICE, focus on the Namibia Training Authority (NTA) curriculum Level 1-3 qualifications in Hospitality & Tourism, with specialisation in accommodation services, food & beverage service operations and commercial cookery skills.

The Desert Academy (DA) is a lodge based training academy and teaches young Namibians all aspects of the lodge-based operations and hospitality, including courses on food and beverage service, kitchen operations, housekeeping and laundry operations and front office administration.

Trainees are exposed to a variety of departments in the operation and learn the importance of working together whilst building confidence in a supervised environment. Multi-skilling is an important aspect in lodges and this is done with the trainees to ensure well rounded individuals that can slot into a variety of positions in any organisation.

' The Wolwedans Desert Academy, has proved, beyond a doubt - that vocational training provided in a nurturing environment, by qualified and passionate facilitators is a powerful combination and conduit to successful career planning. It also bridges the gap by providing cost-effective tuition. The Board of the Wolwedans Foundation relies on the support of its partners to continue creating a sound financial base from which to design these courses, subsidise previously disadvantaged individuals and set a course to a 100% pass rate and ultimately - to adequate employment. With this support, we make a genuine contribution to the Namibian economy and a lasting impact on the lives of young Namibians. '
